After three frustrating cancellations thanks to Covid, AFPAAA’s 27th
Annual Meeting is definitely a go for 2023.
The meeting will be held at the Hotel Alba in Tampa, Florida from
October 26 to October 28.
It will be almost four and a half years since our last meeting in
Charleston, and the Annual Meeting Committee has been hard at work
making sure the 2023 meeting will be worth the wait. Committee
chairman Perry Nouis reports that Tampa and MacDill AFB are ready to
roll out the red carpet, the hotel looks great and is offering AFPAAA
members a special group rate, some excellent speakers are being lined
up, and sunny Florida is promising great autumn weather.
Golfers will get a head start on the festivities on Thursday morning,
October 26, teeing off at Bay Palms Golf Complex. For most of us
though, the first official event will be an Icebreaker at the hotel
Thursday evening. On Friday, a visit to MacDill AFB will include stops
at the 6th Air Refueling Wing and the headquarters of US Central
Command, and a potential stop at US Special Operations Command. The
annual membership meeting on Saturday should be of great interest as
we discuss what the future will look like after the membership voted
to drop the word “Alumni” from the association’s name. The traditional
awards banquet Saturday evening will top off an exciting weekend.
